Did Uncle Buck Inspire The Movie Home Alone?
Kevin and the pigeon lady listen to classical Christmas music from atop of the ceiling in the concert hall. You looking for someone to read you a bedtime story? Ain’t much better in here. When the tool chest pushes the door Marv and Harry have their ears pressed against, the long shot clearly reveals that they are standing on a skateboard as they are pushed backwards.
The airport scenes were exponentially more difficult to shoot than the first movie. The airport had to stay operational during filming, and Macaulay Culkin's newfound celebrity status required extra security due to fans and paparazzi. The scenes at O'Hare International Airport were filmed in February 1992, and kept their Christmas decorations up for the occasion. Instead, Kate should have had to check all children in, and then give everyone their boarding passes.

At Central Park where the pigeons are feeding on Marv and Harry, Kevin lights fireworks that do not scare the birds away. However, when the police come, they fire one shot in the air which scares all the birds away. Kevin - Allein in New York
Many of the actors who played members of the extended McCallister cousins reprise their earlier roles from Kevin - Allein zu Haus with a few notable exceptions. Angela Goethals played Linnie "You're what the French call 'les incompetents'" McCallister, one of Kevin's older sisters, in the original movie, but was replaced in the sequel by actress Maureen Elisabeth Shay. Kristin Minter, who played Kevin's oldest cousin Heather, is not in the sequel at all.
Kevin clearly did not think it through on how he was going to get away with the lie his dad was also at the hotel. The hotel staff would find out at the end of his stay that he had lied to them and committed credit card fraud. Plus, Mrs. Stone told Kevin his dad would need to sign a few things, so even if Kevin got away with it the police would be informed. This movie borrowed a few ideas from the first movie. In fact, John Hughes and Chris Columbus admitted that this movie was really more of a remake of the previous movie, despite being released only two years after the first one.

– Has the boy ever run away from home? Has he ever been in a situation on his own? As a matter of fact, this has happened before. When Marv walks up the stairs to the front door, he leaves the bag of money on the sidewalk, and later, when he and Harry chase Kevin to Central Park, the bag is still there. It seems highly unlikely that a bag of money left on a sidewalk in New York City would remain untouched for any considerable length of time. They do, however, say that he 'had a very convincing story', even though they never disclose it.

Harry tells Kevin to throw down his camera and they'll leave him alone. But Kevin's camera is a Polaroid that prints out the pictures as they're taken, so he could throw down the camera, but he'd still have the incriminating photos. At the Plaza Hotel, Kevin asks Donald Trump where the lobby is. Trump says down the hall and to the left, but Kevin turns right and arrives at the lobby.
As Kevin is taking money out of the envelope to pay for his things he later uses to lure Marv and Harry, he places the envelope on the counter. When the camera switches back to the counter, the only things on there are the map and Swiss army knife. When Kevin requested to make a donation to the toy store, the money envelope was back in his hand. In-between, however, there is a close-up of Mr. Duncan handling the money to put in the cash register. It is impossible for Kevin to take back the envelope of money off the counter. When Kevin goes to the front desk to check in, the desk clerk takes Peter's credit card.

When Kevin followed a man thinking it was his dad, a flight attendant lets him onto the plane, asking if that man was his dad. In reality, the flight attendant wouldn't have let a minor on the plane with someone they don't know very well as they would have to suggest waiting for his parents to get him. Therefore, he wouldn't have been able to travel to New York. Marv is electrocuted when he goes to use the sink, which is connected to an arc welder and comes out practically unscathed. Both Kevin's plane and the plane his family are on seem to take off within seconds of each other.
Harr tells Marv the plan is to wait in the toy houses until everyone leaves then then empty the cash registers and walk out. He fails to state how they could easily walk out without tripping the alarms. Marv and Harry get away with clothes theft at the rink, scaring Kevin in-front of Duncan's Toy Chest and grabbing a few of the children on the field trip in Central Park with no comeuppance, despite witnesses. The scene where Marv hits the plank and Harry gets thrown up into the air and falls onto a car and damages it is physically impossible.Joe Pesci is around 119 pounds while Daniel Stern is around 215 pounds.
When Kevin visits various New York City landmarks, his visit to the World Trade Center was removed from television broadcasts after 2001, out of respect for the victims of the 9/11 attacks. As of Christmas 2018, the scene at the WTC has been restored. Entertainment Weekly had a real medical doctor analyze what the actual effects of the injuries to Harry and Marv would be. According to this physician, bricks to the face, as Marv experienced, would have caused "at best, brain damage; at worst, death."
